BNL Round 6 (Regular Season): Suns hand first defeat to Mountaineers

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Mountaineers (2-1) in Tshwane on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Suns (2-0) 81-59. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Suns forced 32 Mountaineers turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Marcus Mokwena (-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Siphumle Qanya (182-1993) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Julian Wright (199-1990) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Suns keep a position of league leader, which they share with Marlins and Panthers. Mountaineers at the other side keep the third place with one game lost. Suns is looking forward to face Pride (#4) in Limpopo in the next round. Mountaineers will have a break next round.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mountaineers maintains third position with 2-1 record having just one point less than leader Magic. Pride at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Rhinos and Warriors. Mountaineers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pride will play on the road against Zebras (#5) in Kimberley and hopes to get finally their first victory.
